High School Education at the Upper Valley JVS

WELDING TECHNOLOGY

In this two-year program, students learn basic welding skills, layout and fabrication skills, and produce weldments based on blueprints. All terms, techniques, and procedures used in the Upper Valley JVS Welding program simulate American Welding Society standards as well as the standards used in local industries.

Students have the opportunity to learn automatic welding techniques with SAW and GMAW using a six-axis robot. Quality, not quantity, is emphasized.

Students who master basic welding skills may be recommended for apprenticeship and/or individualized training for welding certification.

Graduates of this program may advance to leadership/management positions or become business owners. They may further their skills and knowledge locally in adult education classes at Upper Valley JVS, welding institutes, or community college programs.
