High School Education at the Upper Valley JVS

CAREER ASSESSMENT

Career Assessment is the recommended first step in transition.  It is an individualized, five-hour activity that enables the student to consider his/her interests/aptitudes and how they relate to realistic, future consideration of training/education, employment, and career options.

The Career Assessment report includes: career interests, academic levels, hands-on scores, learning styles, and suggested training areas. Career Assessment information is verified through the use of a variety of traditional methods and tools, including academic and manipulative assessments, surveys, inventories, and interviews.

Career Assessment information is shared with the student, parents/guardians, teachers/counselors at a post-career assessment conference. High school students, 14-years of age or older, are eligible to participate in Career Assessment.  Referral may be made by the student’s high school counselor, parent, or a community agency.
