JVS Students Attend State Conference

Business Professionals of America members from the Upper Valley JVS Business Academy and Troy High School attended the 42nd Annual Business Professionals of America Fall Leadership Conference on Wednesday, November 4 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. The 2009 - 10 BPA theme is "Shoot for Success."

Those attending from Upper Valley JVS were: Derrick Brownlee* Troy Interactive Media I, Jake Clark* Troy Computer Information Technology II, Kayla Eilerman* Fort Loramie Business and Financial Management I, Krystal Leet Troy Administrative Office Technology I, Ben Michael Piqua Computer Information Technology I, Channing Murphy* Covington Interactive Media II, Lacey Summers* Piqua Administrative Office Technology II, Cody Wagner Sidney Business and Financial Management II

Those seniors attending from the Information Technology program at Troy High School were: Chris Basic, Jon Bramlette, Brandon Heindl, Victoria Le, Justin Miller, Priya Patel, Bradley Potterbaum, Joshua Rowland, Matthew Stephens, and Nicole Terry.

While at the conference, selected students served as voting delegates for the election of the 2009-10 state officers. In addition, all attendees had an opportunity to participate in their choice of four interactive professional development workshops.

The Ohio Vice President and advisor offered ideas and techniques to motivate members and advisors to plan activities that will enable students to earn the various Torch Awards. The presenters led participants through the student online entry process and the necessary advisor approval.

Business Professionals of America is a co-curricular career technical student organization (CTSO) for students pursuing careers in business management, office administration, information technology and other related career fields. BPA has more than 51,000 members in over 2,300 chapters in 23 states.

Connie Keim of Casstown and Sue Phillis of Troy serve as BPA advisors. They accompanied the students to this conference.
