Twarek Hired as New JVS Treasurer

The Upper Valley JVS Board of Education hired Amy S. Twarek as the District’s new treasurer at its January 25 meeting. Twarek replaces retiring treasurer William H. Stump and will assume responsibilities on March 1, 2010.

Most recently, Twarek, served as Chief Fiscal Officer for the Mad River Local School District. Prior to that, she held the same position with Miamisburg City School District for ten years. In addition, she previously was the Deputy Auditor for Auditor of State Jim Petro; Controller for the Greene County Board of Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services; and Senior Accountant for Ernst & Young, Dayton. The administration from Mad River Local Schools shares, "On the district level, she is steadfast in her two primary missions—to create budget histories for accounts and to work as a responsible member of the district leadership team." Recommendations from Miamisburg also supported Twarek’s professionalism—"Amy prided herself with having a great working relationship with the Board of Education, the Superintendent, the administrative staff, teachers, and support staff alike. She was exceptional at being fiscally responsible to all district stakeholders.

Twarek earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy from Wright State University in 1987 after graduating Magna Cum Laude. She became licensed as an Ohio Certified Public Accountant in January 1990. Twarek is also licensed as a Treasurer by the State of Ohio Department of Education.

Professionally, she is a member of the Ohio and National Government Finance Officers Association and the Ohio Association of School Business Officials. Twarek has also completed post-graduate courses in the areas of school finance, management, generally accepted accounting standards, governmental accounting standards board pronouncements and governmental accounting.

Twarek resides in Miamisburg with her two sons—Brian and Colin. She enjoys reading, sports, traveling and spending time with family.
